Champion Juicer G5-PG710 Review

Champion Juicer G5-PG710 Review

If you’re looking to get in on the juicing craze that is taking the internet by storm then you may have heard of cold press juicers, also known as slow juicers. Unlike centrifugal juicers, a slow juicer slices and squeezesfruits and vegetables to extract the maximum amount of juice from them.

They remove the heat buildup that you get from centrifugal juicers which result in heat damage to the nutrients and reduces the shelf life to just 24 hours.

If you need a juicer for health or healing purposes then these models are well worth the investment. They may be a deal slower and more expensive than conventional juicers but considering what you get it’s a fair trade off. One model we’re going to look at is from a company that’s been in the juicing business for a long time and has a solid record of churning out top quality products, the Champion Juicer G5-PG710.

Features

This is a juicer made for the commercial market so it’s quite heavy at 23lbs. what you get though is nothing short of a behemoth in performance. Powered by a 1/3 horsepower motor this juicer easily crushes fruit and vegetables at a faster rate than most, including roots and nuts.

It even comes with a homogenizer for making baby food, muesli and ice-cream. The patented blades are made from stainless steel and covered by a one year warrantee.

However, to get the most out of it you’ll need an additional attachment for juicing leafy greens. Without this extra component, it won’t extract a good yield from things like spinach, kale and Lettice as it does with other ingredients. The 1,725RPM may also strike some people as a bit high for a slow juicer.

Because of this, you’ll get more pulp from leafy greens than you would from slower cold press juicers. (if this is an issue for you then not to worry there are alternatives that we’ve covered below.

Despite its weight, the G5 is easy to disassemble and clean. All its parts are washing machine friendly and even when done by hand takes only 2-4 minutes to clean. As for ease of use, anyone can operate it with little to no instruction. The 1.75-inch feeding chute is large enough to handle most fruit and vegetables with a minimum of cutting and prepping.

Pros

  • Comes with a built-in homogenizer
  • Large 1.75-inch feeding chute
  • Patented stainless steel cutting blades with a one-year warrantee
  • 3-year motor warrantee
  • 10-year parts warrantee
  • Commercial grade juicer so it can be used businesses

Cons

  • A high RPM makes it unsuited for juicing leafy greens
  • Functionality reduced without the attachments
  • Very noisy for a cold press juicer
  • Bulky weight which requires a secure flat surface

Summary

This is a heavy-duty juicer made by a company that’s been in the business for a very long time. If you do a lot of juicing and want to get the most nutrition out of your fruit and vegetables then the G5-PG710 will do that and then some.

It’s constructed from some of the highest quality materials in a juicer and covered extensively by warrantees on each of its component parts. With that sort of quality and power, you can be guaranteed great tasting juice which it will provide time after time.

With that said though it’s work keeping in mind that much of its capabilities are quite limited if you don’t have the extra attachments. If you want to juice things like leafy greens and wheatgrass you’ll be losing a lot of produce without the attachment. Alternatively, you might want to consider one of the options below.

This also happens to be one of the heaviest juicers on the market. If you don’t have the space or the patience for how loud it is then you might be better with something else.

Then again, this is a tough model to beat once you do have the attachments. It can easily juice just about any kind of fruit and vegetable while producing very little foam. If you want something powerful that is built to last and perform right every time then the G5-PG710 has our recommendation.

Alternatives

Whether it’s the high price tag or even higher RPM maybe there’s some reason you might be having second thoughts about the slow press juicer. There are other options to consider.

Omega J8006

If you like to juice leafy greens or want shakes that are high in nutrients and enzymes then the Omega J8006 has the answer. Operating at just 80RPM you’ll be able to retain far more nutrients and enzymes in each juicing then the G5-PG710 can. For those with cancer or looking to boost their immune system, this can make a crucial difference. To add to that, the Omega comes in a sleek chrome exterior that makes it a great addition to any modern kitchen.

Hurom HU-100 Masticating Slow Juicer

If you want something more compact that doesn’t take up much space while still allowing you to juice leafy-greens then the HU-100 makes a great alternative. This is an efficientand affordable slow juicer that can easily handle all kinds of leafy greens without the need for extra parts.

On the downside, however, it’s a lot less durable than the G5-PG710. When using the HU-100 you’ll need to be careful not to overfill it and cause clogging. If you want something more compact and affordable the HU-100 could be just what you’re looking for.

Verdict

Cold press juicers are known for producing some of the best tasting and nutritious juice possible. For best results, it’s worth investing in a good model but more money does not necessarily make for a better product. In the end, it’s all a matter of personal needs.

If you something of high-quality that will perform well every time regardless of heavy usage then a powerhouse like the Champion G5-PG710 is one of the best in the market.

It won’t be for everyone though. Plenty of people are into juicing for the health benefits which you’re slightly losing out on due to the Champions high RPM rate.

You’re also limiting it’s functionality if you don’t get the attachments for dealing with leafy greens which will cost extra on top of its already high price tag. Alternative like the Omega and Hurom will be better suited for this if at the expense of durability.

Overall though the G5-PG710 is a fantastic juicer made by a company that has earned the respect of its customers over the years. If you want something that is built to last and perform the Champion Juicer G5-PG710 is well worth it.
